In 1766 Robert Donaldson petitioned the Virginia House of Burgesses for assistance, claiming that he had "received several Wounds in the Service" of Virginia, and that he was blind and therefore unable to work. On 4 Dec. 1766, the House passed a resolution authorizing a sum of £5 per annum to be paid Donaldson during his lifetime.
This man may be the same Robert Donaldson who was paid £14.3.10 in the spring of 1775, though that payment may have been made to Alexandria merchant Robert Donaldson (see Ledger B, 192).
