Benjamin A. Hamp was a merchant of Alexandria, Virginia. He sold a variety of items at his store, including woolens, linens, hats, glass, saddlery, and jewelry (see Miller, Artisans and Merchants of Alexandria, 1:181).

GW's accounts show the purchase of several items from Hamp in the early 1790s. These items include thread and needles for Martha, padlocks, and tea (see Ledger B, 320, 349). Hamp appears to have been a partner in the firm of Benjamin Hamp & Company, with which GW also did business (see Ledger B, 327).
