Henry Jones of Fairfax County, Va., acted as overseer for the Dogue Run farm at Mount Vernon for one year, beginning in December 1791. According to the agreement Jones had signed with George Augustine Washington in August of 1791, Jones was to be paid £30 Virginia currency at the end of his one year of service, and he would also receive 300 pounds of fresh pork, 200 pounds of beef, 100 pounds of flour, five barrels of corn, the use of a milk cow, and the privilege of raising fowl for his own consumption (see Ledger B, 351).
