Samuel Washington (c.1770–1831) of Berkeley County, Va. (now W.Va.), was the son of GW’s brother Charles and his wife, Mildred Thornton Washington. He was the younger brother of George Augustine Washington.
GW lent money to his nephew on several occasions due to bad crops and other financial hardships that faced Samuel at times (see Ledger C, 39, 52).
