Charlestown, Maryland

Charlestown, Md., originally a port on the Northeast River, was the county seat of Cecil County, Md., until 1786, when the courthouse was moved to Elkton (Head of  Elk). GW had breakfast there on 8 May 1775, while he was traveling to Philadelphia to attend the Second Continental Congress as a delegate from Virginia.
