In 1756 GW shipped two hogsheads of tobacco aboard Dinwiddie to British merchant Thomas Knox (see Ledger A, 16). The Dinwiddie may be the ship of that name that was advertised for sale in 1754. The advertisement, printed in the 26 July 1754 issue of The Public Advertiser (London), reads in part: "THE new Ship Dinwiddie, a prime sailor, square-stern, Boston-built, Burthen 200 Tons more or less, with exceeding good Dimensions for the Virginia or the West India Trades . . ."  The Dinwiddie was already sailing between England and Virginia in the late summer and fall of 1754 (see The Pennsylvania Gazette [Philadelphia], 12 Sept. 1754).
