John Randolph (c.1728-1784) practiced law in Williamsburg. He also served as attorney general of the colony of Virginia from 1766 to 1774 and was an outspoken Loyalist during the Revolutionary War. He had prominent family members, including his son, Edmund Randolph, who was a lawyer from Williamsburg and who later became attorney general of Virginia and then of the United States.
