Anthony Bacon & Company was a London firm, one of the partners of which was merchant Anthony Bacon (c.1717–1786). Bacon, who was for a time a storekeeper in Maryland and a master of a tobacco ship, eventually became a well-established merchant in London. In the 1750s, GW had dealings with Bacon and his firm, which included shipments of tobacco (see Ledger A, 16). The firm was one of the original members of the Dismal Swamp Company.
