In 1761, GW had shipped several hogsheads of tobacco aboard the Argo, Capt. John Boyes. In his accounts, GW indicated which hogsheads belonged to him, as opposed to those belonging to John Parke Custis (see Ledger A, 67, 120, 148). The tobacco was consigned to the London firm of Robert Cary & Company, which had received consignments of tobacco from the Custis plantations. GW also consigned much of his Potomac tobacco to the firm.
