Robert Cary was a merchant who acted for a time as one of GW's agents in London. Cary was a partner in the firm of Robert Cary & Company, the major London merchant house for the Custis estates, and through which GW conducted much of his business in London, and ordered various goods. For several years, GW also consigned his tobacco to the firm for sale in England.
