Anthony Gholson (Gholston) rented a 113-acre parcel (lot no. 6) of GW’s Frederick (Berkeley) County land on Evitts Run above Worthington’s Marsh from 1768 until at least as late as 1786. Gholson’s lease of the tract at £4 per annum was for his lifetime and that of his wife Elizabeth and of their son William. Gholson did not make his first payment until 19 Oct. 1772, at which time he paid £18.15.0 to cover his arrears through 1771. As early as 1779 David Fulton was occupying the tract and paying the rent (see Ledger B, 156).
