Benjamin Herndon resided in King George County, Va., though he may have for a time lived in King William County (see Ledger A, 236). In 1766 GW lent him £5 in the purchase of Marmaduke Norfleet’s land. In late October 1767 GW paid Herndon £3.4 for a horse for the plantation in North Carolina that he and Fielding Lewis had purchased of Marmaduke Norfleet (see Ledger A, 255).
