Abraham Barnes (d. 1785), a planter in Truro Parish, Fairfax County, Va., was married to Sarah Ball McCarty, widow of Denis McCarty of Cedar Grove, Fairfax County. GW made inquiries to Barnes regarding the part of Fairfax County known as Sugar Lands.
GW paid ten shillings to Barnes's slave Davy for taking up his slave Boson, who ran away in 1760 (see Ledger A, 89).
