William Courts kept an inn, commonly called the Stone House, at the ferry landing in Colchester, Virginia. GW occasionally dined at the inn.
In late 1772, Courts owed GW 16 shillings and eight pence for 100 pounds of superfine, burr flour. Courts appears to have made payment for the flour in June 1774 (see Ledger B, 64, 140).
