Frances Jones Dandridge (1710-1785), widow of John Dandridge (1700-1756), was the mother of Martha Washington and Bartholomew Dandridge (1737-1785). She lived at Chestnut Grove, in New Kent County, Virginia.
In June 1760, GW records that he sent sundry goods to Frances Dandridge (see Ledger A, 67). These goods likely included armozeen or ducape, which were types of stout, plain silk cloth. In November 1759, GW had asked the London firm of Robert Cary & Company to add the above items to the goods ordered for "Mrs Dandridge" (GW to Robert Cary & Company, 30 Nov. 1759).
