Ledger A, 1750 - 1772: pg.146

Credit Side Annotation

Lines 3-50 -In many transactions on this page, GW wrote several words and phrases in large characters and closer to the left margin of the folio page than the other words in the transaction.  In an effort to reproduce as much as possible the format of the manuscript ledger, the editors have placed these words and phrases under the column headed "Account Name," though they do not represent account holders.

Line 4 - In March 1762, GW went to Westmoreland County for the funeral of his half brother Augustine Washington. Afterwards, he left there to travel to Williamsburg in order to attend the assembly from 30 March to 7 April.

Line 50 - GW had at least two slaves named Sam. One was a skilled carpenter and the other was a slave at Muddy Hole farm.
