Line 24 - Martha Washington had intended to leave Mount Vernon for GW's headquarters at Valley Forge, Pa., on 26 Jan. 1778, but appears to have departed around the 28th. Martha traveled to camp by way of Baltimore, arriving at Valley Forge on 5 February. See Lund Washington to GW, 28 Jan. 1778 [Rotunda | Founders Online | Print (Revolutionary War Series, Volume 13, pages 374-76)]; GW to John Parke Custis, 1 Feb. 1778, and n.1 to that document [Rotunda | Founders Online | Print (Revolutionary War Series, Volume 13, pages 435-37)]; and Greene Papers, 2:275-76.
