Line 17 - In his diary entry for 16 April 1798, the date of this transaction, GW noted that he went to Alexandria, Va., on that day for "an Election of Delegates for" Fairfax County. GW voted for Roger West (c.1755-1801) and John Carlyle Herbert (1777-1846), both of whom were elected as representatives from Fairfax County to the Virginia House of Delegates.
