Credit Side Annotation

Line 27 - GW's nephew, George Augustine Washington, sailed to the West Indies in the spring of 1784 in the hopes of recovering from an ailment, which probably was tuberculosis. In a letter to GW dated 27 June 1784 from Barbados, West Indies, George Augustine advised his uncle that he had arrived in the region on 23 June after a "tedious passage of 26 days from the Capes". He also acknowledged GW's "goodness," which may have referred in part to the 100 guineas that GW had given him on 25 April 1784, the date of the present transaction.   George Augustine wrote: "I sensibly feel the inexp[r]essible obligations I am under to You for Your unbounded goodness, and how I shall ever be able to acknowledge it I know not". See George Augustine Washington to GW, 27 June 1784 [Rotunda | Founders Online | Print (Confederation Series, Volume 1, pages 469-71)]; see also GW to Charles Washington, 28 Feb. 1784 [Rotunda | Founders Online | Print (Confederation Series, Volume 1, pages 162-63)].
