Lines 6-9 - GW left Mount Vernon for Annapolis, Md., on 26 Sept. 1773, in order to attend five days of horse races, sponsored by the Annapolis Jockey Club. In addition to attending the races, which began on 27 Sept., GW dined with Maryland governor Robert Eden, went to see plays, and attended a ball. GW returned to Mount Vernon on 2 October.
