Notley Young (c.1736–1802) was one of the proprietors of the Federal City. The plantation home of Young, located on the banks of the Potomac near the modern intersection of 8th and I streets, S.W., and acquired by deed from his mother in 1762, was a portion of a larger tract known as Duddington’s Pasture. It ran along the Potomac from near the mouth of Tiber Creek to the mouth of the Eastern Branch, extending inland about half a mile.
