Dr. Thomas Cockburn, formerly of Jamaica, resided in Fairfax County, Va., during the 1760s. He had at least two sons, Martin and James. Thomas died sometime before 25 Jan. 1769 (see Robert Stewart to GW, 25 Jan. 1769).
In October 1763, GW sold Cockburn two plows (see Ledger A, 181). GW's account with Cockburn further shows that the latter made occasional use of the blacksmith at Mount Vernon (see Ledger A, 188).
