Bennett Jenkins was a member of the expedition led by Valentine Crawford that attempted to seat GW's lands on the Ohio and Kanawha rivers in 1774. GW paid Jenkins sums equivalent to a total of £2.4 in Virginia currency on 31 March and 18 Nov. 1774, and on 22 Dec. 1774 GW gave Jenkins's father, Francis Jenkins, Pennsylvania currency worth £3.4 in Virginia money. The Pennsylvania currency with which Lund Washington settled Jenkins's account was calculated to be equal to £9 in Virginia money, making a total of £14.8 in Virginia currency paid Jenkins (see Ledger B, 103).
