William Godfrey, peruke maker, advertised in the Virginia Gazette (Purdie and Dixon; Williamsburg) on 25 April 1766 the opening in Williamsburg of a “shop between the RALEIGH and the CAPITOL, where he proposes carrying on his business in all its branches.” He is also referred to as a barber in GW's ledgers.
GW used Godfrey's services on several occasions when he was in Williamsburg (see, for example, Ledger A, 274).
