Thomas Eden, brother of Maryland governor Robert Eden, owned and commanded the Annapolis, aboard which ship GW dined in May 1773. Eden also had a trading company by the name of Thomas Eden & Co., which was engaged in the tobacco trade between Maryland and England. GW consigned four hogsheads of tobacco to the firm in October 1773. Eden later carried aboard the Annapolis two pipes of Madeira wine, one of which was for GW (see Ledger B, 122).
