Hunting Creek Warehouse, Virginia

Hunting Creek tobacco warehouse was one of four public tobacco warehouses in Fairfax County, Virginia. The others were Pohick, Falls of Potomac, and Colchester. Each had two inspectors appointed by the governor from four names submitted to him by the country court, to serve for a term of one year. One of the inspectors of tobacco at Hunting Creek Warehouse was Richard Sanford, who served in that capacity in the early 1770s.

Some of the tobacco crop grown at GW's Bullskin plantation was inspected at the Hunting Creek Warehouse (see Ledger A, 120).
